TO: THE GAZE TRIMALDI, VILLAGE TRISHENKO, THE LANDS OF NEAR DARAN
FROM: THE BROS. TRIMALDI, IFLA, HAVEN
Hello to Ma and Pa and the Kits and the Gaze and the Village. I am writing this to you with my brothers telling me about what I must talk about and what I mustn’t talk about.
We are in a land with many strange names, and Big People.
We had to do business with Wolves. Real Wolves. Not like the nice family on the edge of town.
We are lonely without the rest of the Gaze, or the Village. The metal suit is working well, and we work on it to make it better. We are still sad for the Wandering Lady, but will make her spirit proud.
This island, Haven, is where the Archmagus was. It has magical things here. It does not have room for the Village. We are walking to the Hundred Cities, who might have room, or who might know where such a land is.
We are eating well. Some of us more than well. But we miss you, and the food there.
We will work hard for you.

FROM: THE BROS. TRIMALDI, NEXT PLACE WE FIND A POST OFFICE
Hello to Ma and Pa and the Kits and the Gaze and the Village. The others did not think I told our story right the last letter, so we will take turns telling what is happening to us so that you know.
We have been in many adventures and fights. _We have been moving steadily, and the clank is working well._ **we have had a long journey.**
We have been named by our allies Trimaldi Haltisbane. _It sounds more useful as Trimaldi Drakehuntersbane._ **trimaldi dragonbanebane sound scarier.**
We got that name because we fought the mean drake hunter Halti. _The drakes were scary, but she was trying to kill them for bad reasons._ **we did not let her scare us.**
We defeated Halti twice. _She and her army tried to stop us, but we figured out the answer._ **we were strong and resolute.**
So we should be Trimaldi Reallyhaltisbane. _That would be rubbing it in. Maybe Huntersbane._ **which do you think would be scarier to bad people we meet?**
Before we failed the friends. The drakes were too strong. _But we have helped our friends in other fights. We have been very brave._ **we helped the drakes, too, which was kind of funny-strange.**
We have met good friends here. _They need our help to be protected._ **we will protect them however we can.**
We have found a land with space on it. _The land has a lot of drakes, though. We are continuing to travel west._ **maybe one of the many hundred cities (hundred is many many) will have some space.**

FROM: THE BROS. TRIMALDI, DELMAR-ON-THE-SEA
Hello to Ma and Pa and the Kits and the Gaze and the Village. Our distant, much-missed Family, and Village:
Whiny and Tiny are working on getting the clank ready for our next piece of travel. They were happy to lt me write this.
We are well. Whiny had a toothache a few days ago, but it is all better now.
We have been exploring beyond Harmony, and found many strange lands, and met interesting people, and fought bad guys, but also made many friends. We have been heroes, most of the time, and are very proud.
One set of friends is a tailor, Sirius Harmon, in Delmar-on-the-Sea (though it is the opposite side of the land from our sea), about mumblety-mumble miles down the peninsula from the Big Bridge. Sirius is part of an effort to rebuild the city of Delmar-on-the-Hill, which used to be where everyone here lived, until there were earthquakes, so they moved away. He has said that our people would be welcome in resettling the city. It would probably be hard work, but we have solved the earthquakes that were happening, and it might be a place our people could come. It is much less cold, and much better for places to grow food, but there have also been dangers here from remains of the Archmagus and his empire, and other wild creatures.
We will be exploring further. We cannot tell you what to do. We will continue to send letters. We hope you get them, and if something we have found will help our people of Trishenko, we trust you will do what is needful.
If you send messages back, we might get them. We would love to know how all are doing and hope all are well. Did Sniffly’s litter drop safely? Did the doctor’s cough get better? Did the Mysterious Middens turn out to have anything interesting buried in it? We would like to know!
We all send the smells and tastes from our hearts to you all. We are far away and wish we were there or (maybe!) you were here.

Dearest Friends, Family, Kith and Kin:
We wrote you before about a land called Delmar-on-the-Hill, which is a deserted city (not a desserted city, unless one of the ice cream parlors at Delmar-on-the-Sea has moved there, which would be great) we have visited. The people of Delmar, which has many animalkin, are going to resettle there now that we have fixed the earthquakes (yes, we did! It was very exciting!), and we told them of the plight of Trishenko, and they agreed that our people can come here.
It is a further distance than New Thule, but it seems a better and warmer and more welcoming place. We have written a map [at the bottom of the last page] of where it is. We cannot decide for you, but it seems like a good home. We trust the people there.
We will continue to explore, so may not be back soon, sorry, very sorry, we want to see you all.
If you need more deets, or help to get the Trishenkin here, please let us know. We are making many friends who can help.

Dear Kith and Kin &c.:
I hope this gets through. Paw Post seems to go everywhere, but we’re in a big forest, and I know the mail doesn’t come often to Treshenko (or maybe nobody sends us much mail).
Have you seen a big bird on fire up there?
The people we are with are talking about a Phoenix which the elfs use for some sort of magic around their ruler or their long lives or doing something in the stream (besides cleaning food, it sounds like), or something like that.
It gets very complicated. I’ve been doing lots of maintenance the last week, so maybe I missed something while I was inside the clank. I wanted to ask the bigs to explain it with drawings, but Whiny said sssshhhh.
Anyway, they talked like the Phoenix – that is a big bird that catches fire (in the stories) and then grows back. It is very powerful, but it has been missing a while. It is supposed to go to the north. Maybe we are going to be following it, if we don’t first take care of the mushroom guy (no, he makes mushroom people, he doesn’t sell mushrooms, and Shiny keeps calling him a “fun guy” and then laughing, but Shiny laughs at a lot of weird things), whose name is Serdak, or go to the elf city called Fletz.
Or maybe we’ll do all of those. I’ll keep the clank running, whatever direction we go. Whiny will keep the legs moving, and Shiny will keep saying “He’s a fun guy!” and laughing some more.
Anyway, if you see the big bird on fire, see if it will follow you back to Treshenko – maybe it will warm things up there.
Maybe if we travel north we can come and visit. We hope all are well.
We miss you all, and hope we are helping.

Dearest Trimaldi Gaze _– grups and kits –_ and our other friends ~~in~~ **used to be in** Trishenko:
We are writing this together ~~_both_~~ **all** of us, because we have so much to say _and worry_ **and get through.** _Sorry if the handwriting is messy_ we have so much to say ~~**and they are hogging the paper**~~ ~~no I am not~~ ~~_you are a little._~~ fine we are sharing.
When we learned the Paw Post had not been getting through, our friend Mizzle said he could do a ritual _it would let us talk with you like we were right there_ **we said yes** _because we were worried_ **and frightened** about things we heard.
We are _more worried now_. ~~**maybe that was a mistake.**~~ No, because if we did not know we would not be rushing to try and get there.
**maybe we should not have left the village.** We have helped people _we have many stories_ but if we were there we could help you **so we are coming** _because we are worried._
From what you said, Pa, the villagers were driven from our little town **our home** because of massive snowstorms **and ice.** We heard from another person **not sure if he is a friend** _but he might know things_ that there were “enemies” that maybe _if we understood right_ were making the weather there bad. If so, they got what they wanted **our town is deserted**.
But that would be enough _to worry about_. _But you told us_ you were all overcome in the storm **and wind and ice** _and woke up_ **in a cave** , _all together._ You are ~~safe~~ _not in_ immediate _danger_ **but if you are trapped there by the weather** and were brought there by mysterious people, _we are afraid you are not safe_. You are being fed **that is important** , but even in places we have seen here called ~~jails~~ _gaols_ the people who cannot be trusted **they did bad things** , they are fed, too **that is important**. _Feeding might be a way of being nice_ **maybe it is hospitality** , or it may be that someone wants you alive for longer for some other reason, _that worries me._ Me, too. **me three.**
**we are coming**.
I _we_ can’t send this letter by Paw Post for a lot of reasons. We are on the back of the Gallimaufry turtle whale _Saraid talked to it, but I was busy telling people about our home,_ **now our home is gone,** _and you are in danger_ and they just keep wanting more answers like how do we decide how tall a ceiling should be when we build a house, _we told them about when the Brindles had to build something bigger_ **more rooms** _and Big John’s family moved into their old place, but they kept hitting their head on the ceiling whenever they stood up_ **the ~~libraries~~ ** librarians **didnt get it.**
Anyway, we don’t know if Paw Post comes here, **the turtle is ~~in trouble~~ ** ~~_in danger_~~ **being hurt right now** , so we are here to help it _and Mizzle’s friends_, but as soon as we do that, _we will be on our way_ **to help you!**
Also, even if there was Paw Post here, we know it was not getting through **to Trishenko** , _and you aren’t even in Trishenko any more_, **you are in a cave** and I don’t think even the Paw Post can find you there, _and we are so worried._
Saraid said we should write this letter, **we said why because it cant get to you** , and she said it would let us say what we were feeling _maybe that would help_. I don’t know if it is helping me, **I am still worried** _we all are_.
She is a squirrelkin _which I guess is now a thing_. There are only a few of them in the world, **they are very lost** _and I have been helping them_, **though some of them are mean** and can’t be trusted. I know we used to have squirrels near Trishenko _before the big snows killed the trees_, but she is like a person **size** , not a squirrel **size** , _and she hits things really hard,_ so I am glad she is coming with ~~me~~ **us** _to rescue you._
After we talked, Papa, we asked Mizzle if he could find you _even if you were lost_, with magic, and he said sure and found where you are on a map. **why did you walk that way?** _You are like halfway to Lost Thule_ **it looks like** and there is nothing there but stone and ice. I thought you were going to try to get to New Thule _which maybe would be okay_ **but we have heard things are not good there**. we have a place we wrote to you about before where everyone could go. _Except you didn’t read that, because that letter did not come through_. But we will tell you about New Trishenko **when we see you soon**.

We are running out of space on this piece of paper, _we should not ask for more._ They have a lot of paper here, **most of it is in books** , **they are always making more books** , so they need all the paper they can get. _Also ink._
_We are very worried_ **and we are not sleeping well.** But that means we can get more ready to help when we are there. _I have made the clank work even better_ **we all did** _and I have learned to make a rifle that shoots different things_ **its crazy** if there is danger there we ~~can~~ _will_ be ready to fight it. **no matter what.**
