Masks 31.3 - The Sword in the Scone [Cutscene]

The only other part of their mythology I could mention as relevant is the “King in the mountain” or “sleeping king”. This is a pretty common element in folklore. Like Excalibur itself, the Grail Knights believe they can (and should) work to become avatars of this force, and be the vessel for the King’s return in some hour of need, or that there is such a being (or heir to such a being) that they ought to protect and serve.

In Halcyon City, this might correspond to Justice, a hero who had history with early Halycon City but has since disappeared, and who may have an unknown/unidentified heir in the Bronze Generation. Or it might be something else.

I’ve got something for TK as well, if there is interest and he is not otherwise spoken for (or single as the case may be). Any other NPCs while I’m at it?

Tk sounds awesome to me. I was a fan of the banter you two establish in the middle of the Vyortovia fight.

Okay, so apologies for being late a few days with comments (I’ve been out of US data network and reasonable WiFi and easy access to a keyboard and time go give this thought).

Bill, this is triffic stuff. I want to read more about these people. I want to interact with them. I want to play them. Wonderful fleshing out all around, from Jaycee to her family to William/Armiger.

Solid character-building and world-building. While the Menagerie is running along with its own drama, this shows there are other parallel dramas in Halcyon City that may (or may not) intersect ours.

Link has proposed a second training regimen to Charade (“find our weaknesses”), so if the group has time for that, that’s an opportunity. Any big enough super-brawl will bring those characters back into play.

I doubt people have the free time, but I’ve offered once or twice to run if anyone ever wanted to play an alternate set of characters, and that offer is still on the table. That would also be an opportunity.

So very tempting, but I’m afraid my calendar would 'splode.

Once Charade has had a chance to actually do some stuff with the team, she will have that report (however one wishes to frame it) ready. (It’s ready already, but given the time dilation effect, it’s hardly appropriate unless presented as prior research, which she’d prefer not to do).

If Armiger were a PC, the duel next week would be his big deal and a character challenge. He doesn’t fight conventionally, so he’s got three outcomes when crossing swords with Skinner (his examiner): stick to his principles about how to use Big X (and lose, and dishonor but not disappoint Lucius); fight the “right” way, but not the way he believes the sword really ought to be used (and win, but disappoint Jaycee), or somehow impress the shit out of Skinner. If nobody intervenes, I’m going to write a thing that will see one of these outcomes take place.

However, we do have some PCs who might want to intervene in his life, and in ways that help advance their own plots - Concord (for reasons given), Ghost Girl (to access the Grail Knights’ library on the occult, which is truly extensive, if she is serious about learning more about the ghostly condition), or possibly Mercury (if he feels like asking one of A10’s teammates about good locations for I’m-serious-it’s-not-a-date).

If Pandemonium (or any hypothetical human followers) becomes another problem and GG drags Armiger along, success on that mission would definitely impress Skinner. Putting in a good word in general won’t do much, but the Menagerie testifying to the Knights about his performance during the Vyortovian battle would also be enough to tip the scales.

I will note this thread for GG’s player, though I wouldn’t expect any feedback until this weekend.
