FabU Session 08 - "We'll Cross That Bridge When We Come To It (Again)"

Last Time

Went to a quarry, saved a set of bridge guards from their kidnapping by rogue archmagus soldierbots.

But … no stone for retrieval, tapped out probably before the AM fell.
Heading back to Ori Orn, the giant.

Back at the Bridge

Guards are thankful for help.

Plan B: Try to talk Or Orn to let us cross.

Back to the Bridge House. The Guards are happy, as are the townfolk who are there.
Bridgekeepers Diary says: just let the giant do what he does.

Onto the bridge, visible from a ways away. Mocking up a set of archways over the top of the bridge. Definitely embellishment, not repair work.

Seraid - encourage creativity
Trimaldis - protecting the bridge users from falling apart points is the most important thing. … stand by Mizzle loyallly.
Mizzle - archmage is gone, so doesn’t matter what he’s told you about. But you can talk with the Bridge Guards, who are just like you. Know what it feels like to not have what you are looking for – all you can do is keep looking, and asking to let us keep looking ourselves.

Giant will talk with the Guards – but will help us across the bridge. Tie up a rope! Trimaldies in back to anchor; Mizzle in the front, panicking, Saraid being cheery.

30 foot walkway. Warned to be careful; side walls are not strong, and the bridge is slippery, and it would be easy to fall.

Through dangerous place … rest of bridge is long. Good-bye!
There’s a reason it’s called the Day Bridge.

Traveling

Low threat level. We make it across the bridge.

First time Seraid has knowingly stepped off of Harmony. - Learning and exploring new things!

A day’s travel to Gold Valley … a medium threat level.
Ruins of old buildings.

Circling birds … those aren’t birds!
Thunderous roar!

CUTSCENE

Deep in a more craggy, cliffy area. Someone is lying on the ground, unconscious, as a small poof of stands atop it, defying three green dragons stalk around it. A much larger one comes down, and lets loose that might roar!
A person in heavy armor, flanked by soldiers, rally up and raise a spear – get that person out of here, and leave the big one for me!

Some time later …

Now we can see those cirlcing creatures, because it is later and we have caught up to them, and are surrounded by a pack of hunting wind drakes (one mature, two young). (After we wandered that way.)

GM RESEARCH: Does Margie’s grab-that-spell let her know what it does?

Round 1

Seraid - Howl to give us Accuracy +1
YWD 1 - nips at Sara! Damage.
Mizzle - studies for weaknesses, the Mature Wind Drake..
MWD - spellcasting! harden scales.
TB - swap out for bolt magicannon.
YWD 2 - nips at TB, ouch!

Round 2

TB - Zap! YWD 1, down to Crisis.
YWD 1 - strong attack, ranged attack, at Sara and TBs - ice attack! And exhausted for a turn.
Mizzle - Acorn Fairy heals us!
MWD - Bite and Claw Sara! Ouch! Sara hits back with their club, whomp!
Sara - Attacks the weakened YWD 1. Zap! He’s out of it.
YWD 2 - Bites the TBs

Round 3

TB - Zap! YWD 2, big hit! In crisis, so down to the ground. MWD avenges with a snort attack. Air attack, ouch!

MWD - Bites at Sara. Crit! Weakened. And giving ADV to YWD 2.
Sara - Targets YWD 2. Spend a FP to invoke the trait of Justice. But … nah. But … FP to draw on her origin … and hits! MWD avenges on Sara, and misses!
YWD 2 - Deep Breath! vs Sara and the TBs. … hit with Ice, and take the TBs down!

… which means 0hp, fighting spirit broken, PC consequence: Surrender: unconscious, can no longer act or affect scene.


Mizzle - Heal! Just Sara.

TBs - Clank is disabled. Working on it!
Bond with Wind Drakes … hatred, inferiority, mistrust

Round 4

Sara - Target YWD 2 - Miss.
MWD - Spell! Acorn Pixie! Dragon’s Breath! Drives off the pixie.
Mizzle - Hit with book. Takes YWD 2 down! MWD snorts back.

Round 5

Sara - Whacking on MWD. Hits!
MWD - Biting Sara. Miss!
Mizzle - Bonk on head with a book! Hit!

Round 6

Sara - Chuck an elemental shard at the MWD – bolt damage!
MWD - Attacks Sara, Snort, misses!
Mizzle - Bonk on Book, +1 FP to invoke Zealous Sage! Whack!

Round 7

Sara - bonk with the bonker! A hit! MWD is down!!

Recovery

The TBs get their clank back to functioning form!

TBs - inferior
I couldn’t save the others! I couldn’t even save myself!
The TBs don’t agree with themselves. (DAVE TO GIVE THIS SOME THOUGHT)

Golden Valley

Kind of rural and old stone buildings and hovels. Fields of wheat and subsistence crops.

Mizzle - Tavern Talk
Four visitors! Someone brought in earlier, not doing too well, so only the public room to doss down in.
We get a pitcher of water. Meals later, flopper stew.

Group of mercs around here, trying to thin out the drake brood. Brought in this young guy, dressed fancy like you, Mizzle. Young man, early 20s.

Resting up, down time.

  2. Anything around town.
  3. Scenes of forming some new bonds.
