Last time …

We had raided some of the Wind Drake-attactive Nettles, and then gave them to the hunters (Halti Drakesbane) for lures for the WDs and the Broodmother.

But it appears the sickly traveler is awake and doesn’t want that to happen!

It Begins!

We want to pick some extra (dozen) thistles for Dr Thorne, then head for town.
Locals wave to us.
We take the thistles to the doctor.
Front door of Burli’s opens wildly – guy in basket stumbles out – moving unsteadily – “No, don’t you see, the Floppers are a symptom!” (Doctor following.)

Show them to a bench. “The hills are healing! The displaced ones are coming back.” Dr Thorne says he’s rambling.
Drakes. The Lady Xena’s favored. Like fish hooks on the soul. Now that they can come home, she is calling them. They were away, and that’s why the Floppers’ population has exploded.
The thistles define their home.
Went out and talked to her … a line … summoning …’

We should tell Halti about this! … or … not …?
Drakes have not fed well enough for generations. If the next brood does not hatch, there may not be another one.

Get yourself composed, so people will listen to you.
There’s no time!
Mizzle tries to talk him down.

Food?
Little dog leaps into his lap and snuggling. “Cloudy.”
His name: Enzo (“and this is Cloudy”)
from the University in Tel.

Where is the sacred site for the WDs? The tallest hill, closest to Lady Xena, where her shrine was destroyed.
Who is this Lady Xena? Babble babble babble. “Night sky” “Dreams and Revelations”

Why can Sara talk with animals? Just an innate part of her.

Mizzle is going to round up parchment and ink … to create a narrative about what Enzo talked aobut, to present to Haldi when she makes an appearance.

Sara is asking folk about the WDs and interactions with them: a nuisance, tearing up farmland and livestock. Floppers are also a pain. “Be nice if one got rid of the other!”
TBs are asking about … how much farmland is there around here? Entire peninsula used to be farmland (half tithed to the Archmagus). People left when the Uprising happened. Not enough people to work all the farmland …

Mizzle - coming down to a question to Halti: peace with the drakes, or killing the drakes?

Halti and the hunters are back.

Mizzle asks the question.
Want a big skull to put on my wagon. Killing monsters important for the brand.

Nobody I care about’s going to die anyway. (followers chuckle)

Mizzle: good news … (hands over manuscript)
Halti - hallucinations from a noob traveller.
Shrine – if the drakes are there, we can talk with them … and if they won’t, you can do your thing.
Halti - suuuuure.
Mizzle - want your word.
Halti - nope. And we’ve been pretty successful so far, and now we know about the shrine and being near the next.
TBs - Using weapons and strength to protect others is good. But hurting people when you don’t have to does not give you a good reputation!
Halti - You know, for a guy in a big suit of armor, you have a really childish attitude about things.
TBs - No I don’t, you do!

Sara - (drops some magic over her fire weapon) Bullies. (turns and walks away)
Halti - don’t turn your back on me.
TBs - do not talk to her that way!!
Halti - sorry I destroyed your house.

Battle!

Sara - (try to tackle Halti out the window, pushing with her club) (and tell Cloudy to get master out to there)
(FP, then invoking Justice)

Inits – no support, other side goes first.

Round 1

Halti 1 - HIts TB
TB - Guard Mizzle
Vanguard - shield bash on
Mizzle - Neko Monarch blasts all three of them. Boom!
Medic - heals the everyone. Boo!
Sara - Heals
Halti - attacks highest HP (Sara). Spear - 10

Round 2

Halti - Seraid! Hits! Ouch!
Mizzle - Potion - Elixir
Vanguard - Hits TBs, resistant but Dazed.
Sara - magic attack - Dragon’s Breath - hit! and shaken. But resistant to Air damage.
Medic - each are immune to Shaken.
TBs - Blast the medic with the Microwave Cannon – Poison.
Halti - Spearing at Saraid - 22 dmg!

Round 3

Halti - Attacks Mizzle - hits! Ouch!
Mizzle - Acorn Fairy casts heal on all, bring back up to full.
Vanguard - Shield bashes Sara. Bop, and dazed.
Sara - Smacks the Medic. Whack! Pow! He’s down.
Halti - Attacks Saraid - and triggers a crit! Ultima Point! Rerolling dice. Ouch!
TBs - Zap the Vanguard, but seems resistant to poison.

Round 4

Halti - Spears the TBs. Ouch!
Sara - Breath the Vanguard. Immune to shaken, but resistant to Air.
Vanguard - Acorn Pixie - misses!
TBs - Zaps Halti - hits, but Vanguard takes her place and absorbs the damage.
Halti - Hits Sara! Resists, but still hurt. Not in crisis, though.
Mizzle - Neko Monarch - spears Vanguard … in Crisis!

Round 5

Halti - Swings at Sara. Hits. In crisis! “Ha! See! I got you!”
Sara - Bops the Vanguard. FP! Strong Family! Hits!
Halti - Attacks Mizzle. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
Mizzle - Acorn Fairy Heals! Mizzle and Sara.
TBs - Zaps Halti (drawing on bonds to Sara. And Mizzle) Halti is Falling Back.

Round 6

Halti - Knowing when to let your Prey take more slack. UP → Flee!

Mizzle taunts - “All Hail Trimaldi Haltibane!”

Halti does a smoke cloud, which fills the room, and she escapes and the Medic … but the Vanguard has left behind.

After the Battle

Sara asks the Doctor for health; Mizzle heals the Pixie, who casts her heal spell on the Vanguard, but bristles, but, wow. But Halti takes care of us. (Making excuses.) Mizzle offers a chbance for his parole – walk away, or come with us.

Sara - Family (ohana). Apologizes to Burly, and reams him out for putting up with bully so long.

Arrange with Doc Thorne to give a high sign if the hunters come back.

Trimaldi Haltibane? Wow.
Sara tousels heads.

Suit of Runic Plate and a Runic Shield. Sara takes the Shield (no dual wielding).

Burli feels bad. Offers to put us up. Some damage done.
Mizzle pays for damage. Also restocks IP.

Shrine area? The person who knows the most … Doc Thorne. Many generations.
Grandfather’s journal.
