Leveling!

Sara - Weapons Mastery 2!

Mizzle - Faithful Companion 3!

TBs - Magitech Armament! Also, Barrage 1

Level divisible by 5, so HP and MP bumped up to a round number. !

The Last Few Games

Traveled through the counties, Dolvin’s pass, to Delmar-on-the-Water. A very large city, with copper rooftops.

Sara running into another Squirrel Person.

Melody invited us all to lunch at Valentine’s Patisserie … but once there, it seemed like something was amiss, as the building shook and a woman ran out, crying for the City Guard.

We step in to lend a hand!

Three giant desserts are rampaging! Whipped Cream! Funfetti! Rocky Road! Growing with each bite!

Initiative! Mizzle manages to beat their initiative.

Food Battle Confectionary!

Round 1

T - change to a Fire weapon against WC and RR! WC is in crisis, but Rocky Road has shrugged it off.
WC - casts a spell, Foamy Wall for Defense …
S - Dragons Breath on FF! Damaged and Shaken.
FF - Turns Yellow. Sprinkle Storm on Mizzle! Misses.
M - Faithful Companion, Sharp Needle, on WC. Hits, and 13 physical, which it seems to resist.
RR - Attacks Mizzle,

S - Throws a Fire Shard with 2 IP. Defeated!

After the Ice Cream Battle

Squeal of excitement from the owner.
Offers us free ice cream.

Melody comes in. Concern for Sara.

Bowls of Ice Cream! The TBs are very polite, as they guzzle ice cream between thank yous.

The Acorn Pixie loves ice cream, too.

We learn about Melody’s backstory.
M asks about her uncertainty. “My parents found me.”
Divination magic to find out more? Kinda scary.

Valentine’s grandmother’s recipe. Does Mizzle know about Etheric Cooking?

M pulls a Bond for Sara to show off.
Grandmother’s cookbook – missing 1st step, because “so obvious”. Documentation standards!

Opportunity to create living elemental as a defensive weapon. Or maybe as adverts.

Melody feels bad for taking up all our time.
But is convinced to invite Sara over to her parents’ house.
Mizzle has some Zs for the bandit bounty. Valentine has a guest room. We can be live-in defenders against cooking disasters.

A pleasant afternoon

S is with Melody.

M buys the Acorn Pixie a new hat from the Badger Tailors the TBs know – Harmon & Sons

Melody is worried about her parents worrying about S showing up.
Meet Melody’s brother. Who is gobsmacked.

The TBs are excited to be of help from people they know.
Small back door and dressing room area.
Sirus Harmon. Introduces them. A hat! Or … someting else!
The TBs know all about the place and chatter at length about it.

Getting the machine working again.
Investigates the problem. Tear in to the machine. Agile little hands.
Hmmmm. Have seen this sort of behavior with our clank. The magical engine that gets it up and running occasionally builds up gunk. Needs a magical air filter change – but damage has already been done. Can get it limping along, but to fix the cause, will need a new part. Could be crafted … but finding a spare part in a box might be faster, if I knew.

Sirius has had this equipment for many generations back from Delmar-on-the-Hill. Grandfather got it from a a man who found it in the mountains, in the pass. (Like, maybe in the cave at the pass …?)

Acorn Pixie has a nice sun hat and sun dress and she is squeaking (in lieu of talking) excitedly to the TBs. Grabs the TBs’ hand and drags toward the door to show off to Mizzle.

Head off to go to … the geologists to learn about any sources of blue stone.

Meanwhile, Sara and Melody … the parents! Glad to meet you.

Taking Melody away? Oh, no!
Business … meeting with the Count.
Dad knows the Count ..,. but in return … leave Melody alone.

Mom feels very uncomfortable about S being around Melody.

Does she know something? She denies it. Just … go.

(We are still invited to the Whitneys’ party.)

Next time …

Let’s talk to the geologists!

Also … maybe buy some IPs!

Are we enjoying the game?

Some more noodling on tactics, because it came up in the last fight!

There’s a pipeline of resource use: IP can restore MP (through elixirs), and MP can restore HP (through healing).

An elixir (3 IP) restores 50 MP. In terms of the cost vs. a typical maximum, that’s 30-50% of our IP cap to restore 80-100% of someone’s MP. It’s relatively expensive for us to regain IP in battle, which puts a soft cap on our endurance.

A Heal spell (10 MP) restores 40 HP. With cost vs. max, that’s about 20% of our MP to restore 50-100% of someone’s HP. It’s moderately costly to regain MP in battle.

You can also go from IP straight to HP, but you’ve lost that roughly 1:4 scaling of going through MP to do it.

There’s one more factor: “hits until death”. With 40 HP and enemies doing 10-20 damage, Miz can take about 2-3 hits before death, and the Trimaldis or Sara can take about twice that.

Because of all this, my goal is always to have the pixie healing, and restore the pixie’s MP via elixirs (or later via a heroic skill). My goal is to heal people who are 1-2 hits away from death, so not to waste anything overhealing.
