Things I think are definitely going to be a thing:

  • Chore rotation. Who’s mucking out the bio-recycling system this week?
  • On a related note, gambling. Cards, dice, something. What’s at stake? Probably chore vouchers.
  • Home cooking. What keeps well in space? How do we spice it up? And who cooks?
  • Music, video, and other entertainment. What are people watching or listening to? Who gets told to turn their audio down?
  • Regular training and practice - EVA, cross-training on different ship operations, emergency drills, whatever keeps us disciplined and focused

Aside from this, being in any space for a long time will provoke people to customize it. What kind of pictures, pin-ups, posters, and other decorations hang in your space?

Life in space can be … stressful. Especially when folk get obsessive. And other folk get dismissive.
