Trimaldis invited to the Whitneys estate by Sirus Harmon – need to find a few bits of machinery for rebuilding the device. Sirus sold some nice suits. Question had been raised about other animal families in the area, and Sirus brought up the Whitneys.
Dinner
Sara wants to bring flowers with us. Exotic flowers. Goes to a friendly-looking shot. People are asking, “Melody, what did you do with your hair?”

TBs stop the clank, get out in their (now-wrinkled) suits (Sara helps smooth the fabric.) Intro Sara.

We get introed with a bunch of names. But they keep missing our names, too.
TBs roll poorly on how they are handling intros – but FP to do a fair amount better.

A lot of people, but not a lot of families involved, so that helps with names.
Folk defer to Whitney (even when he is wrong about something).
“Grand Plan” – decades ago, folks in Delmar abandoned the old city site, Delmar-on-the-Hill. But when they left, a lot of things changed, which shook things up enough to get the animal-kin a more prominent position. So … maybe build and inhabit DotH for just their folk, scaled appropriately.
TBs not sure. Self-segregation.
They’ve been working to gather up deeds and land grants, and start building very soon. Though some worries about the the terrible earthquakes that forced people to flee in the first place; hope smaller buildings will be safer. (Harmon grimaces a bit.) <------ TBs will ask about this later.

Later … Harmon says it’s a great plan, lots of conveniences .. but overlooking earthquakes. Too many ifs.
Building method to withstand quakes … or could stop them.
But everyone defers to Whitney, even when he makes mistakes. SH: He’s an old bird. But he’s still twice sharper than some folks.

Valentine: The old city – its destruction was traumatic and tragic, so people avoid it for that reaason. Unusual how many/strong the earthquakes were.

Talk with dude – Mizzle has endless details about the blue stone. Also, about earthquakes.
Royce Brightseem brother has opinions about earthquakes – but he’s out for 4-5 days.
Can gather info on blue stone, too. … Goldspire Mining had some experience, but the mine may be played out.
Some weird push-back in discussion about the Archmagus’ old control.
Small uptick in the earthquakes, but that’s why everyone moved down the hill. But can’t betray confidentiality.
Mizzle: It’s okay, we’re adventurers.

Some clients doing some mining that – earthquakes have become much more frequent, and it has caused some collapses. Roy has some theories – always been more gopher than bat, a spelunker, up near Dolvain’s Pass.

Mizzle – summons … asks, “What is the root cause of the recent uptick to quakes in this region?”
VISION: Deep under the DP mountains … a corridor or tunnel … a large set of cable from west to east … something has disrupted some of the cable, ether currents, spilling energy, flowing into the surrounding energy.
Put it all together and … a lot of loose elemental magic buildup! Mizzle writes it all down, offer it to Cal. TBs think it looks like the same sort of etheric energy stuff as the tailor’s equipment needs, but MASSIVE.
Failure in the system. Looks kind of accidental.
Wouild need to build/acquire the tools.
So … rescue the Bell, get the reward, buy/craft the tools, be done by the time Royce gets back in 4-5 days.
