FabU Session 16 - "Bells, Bells in the Deep"

We Begin!

We are out on the waterfront of Delmar. Ships at dock, coming in and out. Lots of trade.

Office: Westwind Foundry (Sales Office). Small shop.


Bell that got lost.
Sales lady: nervous. Have tried easy methods – winch, dive teams. Not sure where it is. That’s why they put out the announcement.
Not that it’s sunk into the mud.
Big bell – where has it gone?

They’ve made a “reasonable” contribution to the city, which would help with rebuilding the bridge.
Others have offered to find it. But sounds too difficult.

Any of the original material? Nope. Maybe at the foundry – outside of town.

We hunt!

Travel roll …

The Foundry

Large factory building, four smoke stacks (one active). Westwind signage. Loading docks. Ore shipments and shipping out completed items.
Trimaldis - big and smoky and smelly and LOUD.
Head in through “people” doors.
Lobby. Displays of copper items, fittings, embellishment.
Trimaldis - mass produced, finely engineered metal objects.
Loud., regular "bong"s in the foundry.

Walking into the foundry – Trimaldis looking around, but staying in the very center.


Lots of machinery – but a lot of places not being used.
Forgemaster Hensley. Mold used for the bell, has been used for lots of bells of Delmar. There are still bits of copper inside.
Trimaldis – parts not being used … do you need more workers (settlers!).
Looking back and forth with the sales guy and the forgemaster.

Mizzle does their divination, outside. Forgemaster watches.
Trimaldis help, esp. given their admiration for Mizzle. Sara helps, too!
Mizzle, Arcanum of the Grimoire! And bad rolls!
Gets an idea of where the bell is, approximately. However, it’s kind of that direction. … at some rocky shoals by the city.
It’s going to be big, but if we find it, the Foundry will help.

To the Bell!

Travel back … no problems.

As we approach, we … hear something? A ship’s bell.

Spell is pointing into the water. A little ways.

TBs can walk down into the water.
And … others holding breath … CLOCK! (4 slices)

Wade into the surf (ropes for the others)

Very nice looking terrain and fishies and etc.

And … there’s the bell! Just … sitting there.

Can see, all the rocks, and holes in rocks. Looks kinda dangerous.

  • Mizzle - Study! Nope!
  • S1 - Tail slap on Sara.
  • TBs - Bolt shot on 2 of them!
  • S2 - Ocean Jet on Sara. Crit!
  • Sara - Club on s1 … take it down.
  • S3 - Tail Slap on TBs.

ROUND 2

  • TBs - multi shot, again … take down S2, S3 in crisis.
  • S3 - Ocean Jet on the TBs. Misses!
  • Sara - Hits!
  • Mizzle - Pixie is wearing bathing suit and a sharp needle. Takes S3 down.

Bell is propped up on teh rock.

TBs knock/ring the bell.
“Coming!”

Creature (Scylla) pops up.


“Hi!” “Oh, air breathers .. wanna come in?”
Under the bell … a very large room!

We can all breathe!
Can we have the bell back?
My house?!
But the city is upset.
Ships would keep running into the rocks if I didn’t ring the bell. Merrow Magic.

Discussion with the townsfolk?
Maybe work together?
TBs - Maybe … is there treasure to buy a new bell for the town? No, she likes her shiny disks.

Might give it up. Wants to be secret still.
How about the cracked bell? And it’s older, with history. Oooooooh.

Scylla has a “movement bell”.
Knocks on the clank.
Gives it to Whiney. Bell will bring the bell, if in water. Then we put the old bell in the water, and leave the moving bell with it.

Uses a different handbell to pack up her stuff.

We just want to help people. We would never betray you.
And won’t tell people about you.

To Shore

Head back to town.

So … where is the old bell?

Go talk with the Westwind Foundry Office … the rep, and Peggy, is there, and … oh, we need info about the old bell. For magic stuff. Yeah. Magic stuff.

The old bell got the clocktower bell falling during a tremor. From and older foundry. From Delmar on the Hill.
Where is it? Still by the tower. Will just melt down for scrap … poor quality … probably just to the scrap heap? Could we get it as our reward? We’re collectors!
Everyone is okay … if we get a cart to move the bells.

“Crazier than a Clank full o’ raccoons!”

So …

IT WORKS!

Take the wagon, take the bell someplace private, do the switch (Whiny rings the bell!), drop off the old bell, leave the movement bell, return with the new bell on the wagon!

We bring back the bell. Peggy is SO excited! Saved the foundry so much money!

We are paid off.
